Project Title:  Taft Union High School Solar Project

Project Location:  The project site consists of one parcel located to the northwest of the intersection of North 10th Street and San Emidio Street, between Irene Street and Sandy Creek, in the City of Taft, within southwestern Kern County.  The project site is a total of 10.28 acres with Assessor’s Parcel Number 032-152-14. The project site is located in the Northeast ¼ of the Northeast ¼ of Section 14, Township 32 South, Range 23 East, Mount Diablo Base Meridian in the Taft 7.5-minute USGS quadrangle.  The project site is not included on a list of hazardous materials sites compiled pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5.

Project Description:  The purpose of the proposed project is to provide the TUHSD with solar power generated by a solar array field.  The proposed project consists of the construction of a solar array field, a water line for maintenance activities, and perimeter fencing with access gates on the project site.  In addition, the proposed project would result in the construction of off-site infrastructure that would include: horizontal boring for conduit southwest under Sandy Creek and the TUHSD athletic fields to a vault at the northwest corner of North 10th Street and San Emidio Street; and continued horizontal boring for the conduit to the east under North 10th Street and the Taft Union High School grounds to a second vault where modernization and undergrounding of PG&E transformers would occur.
