    Substitute Teaching

    To be a substitute for the District you must first obtain the proper credential from the State of California. For information on that process please call Kern County Superintendent of Schools at 661.636.4751. Once you are credentialed with Kern County Superintendent of Schools, fill out the online application to be a substitute. Any questions please contact Principal's Administrative Assistant at 661.763.2326 After an application is received, the District must obtain Board approval prior to a substitute being added to our list. Substitutes are also required to attend a District orientation, which is held once a quarter. Completed applications need to be submitted a minimum of 10 days prior to the Board meeting to be put on the agenda. Board meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month, exceptions are September, December, and March when they are held on the 2nd Monday.

    Board approved substitutes will be added, post-orientation, to our calling system and may then begin working for our district. Substitutes work at both the Taft High campus and our Buena Vista High School campus.
